2003 West Virginia Black Diamond Rivalry Champs Tee

The biggest upset of the Black Diamond Rivalry—as well as the highest ranked team WVU has ever beaten—occurred against Virginia Tech in 2003. The Hokies came into Morgantown as the #3 team in the country, but the Mountaineers dominated every facet of the game in a 28-7 victory. VT’s national championship hopes were vanquished, and West Virginia went on a seven game winning streak to claim a share of the Big East title and a trip to the Gator Bowl in Florida.
